What we do

How Prestige Solutions helps

SAPS Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management in Pretoria issues every police clearance certificate, whether it is for a job at sea, on a cruise ship or offshore, a work visa or residence in another country, and we manage your application from fingerprint form to courier delivery.

Swipe for all four

Application checking

Before submission, we go through your fingerprint form and supporting documents to reduce the risk of rejection or a second submission.

Submission

We submit the checked application to SAPS on your behalf, whichever police station took your fingerprints.

Tracking

SAPS allocates a reference number to each application. We follow yours against it and update you on progress.

Courier delivery

SAPS does not scan and email completed certificates. We collect the original once it is issued and courier it to you in Durban or elsewhere in KwaZulu-Natal.

Prestige Solutions handles your application and delivery; SAPS issues the certificate and determines processing time.

Three steps

How it works

A courier handing a brown envelope to someone at a front door
  1. You

    Fingerprints at your local station

SAPS takes a full set of your fingerprints on the SAPS 91(a) form at a police station near you. Bring your original identity document or passport. It is the one part you attend yourself.

  2. Prestige Solutions

Application checked and submitted to SAPS

Your fingerprint form and supporting documents come to us, and we explain how when you enquire. We check them and submit the application to SAPS.

  3. Prestige Solutions

    Certificate couriered back

Once SAPS has issued the certificate, we collect the original and courier it to your address.

Only fingerprinting requires an in-person visit. We handle submission, tracking and delivery.

What you need and what it costs

What you need

  • An original identity document or passport
  • Your fingerprints as a full set on the SAPS 91(a) form, taken by SAPS
  • Proof of a maiden or other former surname, if it must appear on the certificate
  • What the certificate is for and your deadline, such as a joining date

When you enquire, we send you a document list built for your situation.

What it costs

  • The application fee payable to SAPS
  • Our service fee for checking, submitting and tracking the application and couriering the certificate

We confirm both upfront, so you know the full cost before we start.

Timing

How long it takes

1 to 6 monthsFingerprints to delivery, based on our clients' experience

From fingerprints to delivery, completed certificates commonly take one to six months, based on what our clients and enquirers report. SAPS determines the processing time and counts it from the date Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management has received all the required documents. We look after the steps before and after, checking the application going in and collecting the certificate once it is issued.

Why us

Why choose Prestige Solutions

01

One in-person step

The fingerprint visit is the only part you attend. We submit the application, collect the certificate and courier it to you.

02

Checked for completeness before submission

Poor fingerprints, names that do not match and missing documents are common reasons applications are sent back, and SAPS does not process an incomplete application. We look for these first.

03

Apostille in the same service

Some destinations want the certificate apostilled or attested. Tell us and we can add that step to your file.

04

Your deadline assessed upfront

Before we start, we tell you whether your date looks realistic, so you can plan around it.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers to what Durban applicants ask us most.

Do I need to travel from Durban to Pretoria

You do not need to travel. Having your fingerprints taken at a police station near you is the one thing you do in person. Your fingerprint form and documents then come to us, and we submit the application and collect the certificate as part of our police clearance service.

Where do I get fingerprints in Durban

At a police station near you. SAPS must take the prints itself, as a full set on the SAPS 91(a) form, and you will need your identity document or passport. Phone ahead to check that someone is available to take them, and ask us for your document list before you go.

How does my certificate get back to me

By courier, because SAPS does not scan and email completed certificates. We collect the original once it is issued and courier it to you in Durban or elsewhere in KwaZulu-Natal. Give us your delivery address when you enquire.

How long does a police clearance take in Durban

One to six months from fingerprints to delivery is common, based on what our clients and enquirers report. SAPS determines the processing time, so if your deadline is close, tell us the date first and we will say honestly whether it is realistic. There is more in our article on how long a police clearance certificate takes.

What does a police clearance cost in Durban

The cost has two parts, the application fee charged by SAPS and our service fee. We confirm both upfront, so ask us for the figures before you decide.

Can you help if I work at sea

Yes. Fingerprints at a police station are the only in-person step, and we take care of checking, submission, tracking and delivery. Seafarers and offshore crew often need the certificate by a fixed joining date, so give us that date at the start and we will plan around it.

What if my surname has changed

Mention it when you first contact us. If a maiden surname or another former surname has to appear on the certificate, SAPS requires it to be mentioned in the application and supported by documentary proof. We check that both are in place before submission.

Can you apostille my police clearance certificate

Yes. Tell us if the authority receiving your certificate wants an apostille or attestation, and we can take it into that process on the same file once SAPS has issued it. Our attestation and apostille service page covers that step.

Can you help if I have already left South Africa

Yes. Applying from another country works differently, and our guide to getting a South African police clearance from abroad explains how. Message us from wherever you are to get started.
