Australia Visitor Visa for South Africans

We help South Africans apply for the Australian Visitor visa (subclass 600), the route for holidays, cruises, family visits and business meetings. The ETA and eVisitor are not open to South African passports, so this is the visa you need.

What we do

How Prestige Solutions helps

Whether you are visiting family, taking a holiday or travelling for business, we take the forms, the evidence and the follow-up off your hands.

Swipe for all four

Route check

We confirm the right subclass 600 stream for your trip before anything is paid for.

Application checking

We build your evidence around the genuine visitor test and check it for inconsistencies, to reduce the risk of refusal.

Lodgement

We lodge your application online through ImmiAccount, including the separate application each family member needs.

Tracking

We track your application to a decision and help you respond to any request for biometrics or health examinations.

Prestige Solutions prepares and lodges your application; the Department of Home Affairs decides the outcome and the processing time.

What you need and what it costs

The visa

Most South African holidays and family visits use the Tourist stream, applied for from outside Australia. Business meetings and conferences use the Business Visitor stream. Home Affairs generally grants a stay of 3 months, and up to 12 months in certain circumstances.

What you need

  • A valid South African passport
  • Evidence of funds for your trip
  • Evidence of your ties to South Africa, such as work, a business, property or family
  • Your travel plans, and an invitation if you are visiting someone

When you enquire, we send you a document list built for your situation.

What it costs

  • The Australian visa application charge
  • Health examination or biometrics costs, if Home Affairs asks for them
  • Our service fee

We confirm the current government fees and our full quote upfront, so you know the full cost before we start.

Timing

How long it takes

A traveller walking through an airport terminal with a wheeled case

Processing times vary, and Home Affairs determines them. It publishes its current processing times for the subclass 600, and a request for more documents, biometrics or a health examination can add to the wait, so we build that into your plan.

Why us

Why choose Prestige Solutions

01

The right stream first

We confirm the subclass 600 stream that fits your trip before you pay for anything.

Most visitor decisions turn on whether you are a genuine visitor, so we build your evidence around that test rather than a generic checklist.

03

We handle visa applications for 75+ destinations, so a trip that also includes the UK or Europe stays with one team.

04

Honest about your case

If the do-it-yourself route suits your case, we will tell you.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers to what South Africans ask us about visiting Australia.

Can South Africans get an ETA or eVisitor for Australia

No. The subclass 601 Electronic Travel Authority and the subclass 651 eVisitor are limited to published lists of eligible passports, and South Africa is on neither. On a South African passport, the subclass 600 Visitor visa is the route, unless you also hold a passport from an eligible country.

How long can I stay on an Australian visitor visa

The Tourist stream can be granted for up to 12 months, but Home Affairs generally grants a stay of 3 months. Your grant letter states the exact period and any conditions. You cannot extend your existing visa. You may be able to apply for a new visa to stay longer, depending on your eligibility and visa conditions.

How long does an Australian visitor visa take

Processing times vary. Home Affairs publishes its current processing times for the subclass 600, and a request for more documents, biometrics or a health examination can add to them, so apply well before you fly.

Do I need medicals or biometrics

Not automatically. Home Affairs tells you if you need to provide biometrics, and whether health examinations are needed depends on your circumstances. Stays of 6 months or more usually require them, and applicants aged 75 or older need a medical examination and a serum creatinine test however long they plan to stay.

Does each family member need their own application

Yes. Each person, including children listed in your passport, must submit a separate application. We prepare and lodge them together.

Do I need a police clearance for an Australian visitor visa

Usually not. A police certificate is not a standard part of a subclass 600 application, although Home Affairs may ask for one. Permanent and longer stay visas are different, and our police clearance service handles SAPS certificates end to end.

Can I work or study on a visitor visa

You cannot work. You may study or train for up to 3 months, but if study is the main reason for your trip, a student visa is the right route. Business visitors may attend meetings, negotiate contracts and take part in conferences, but may not be paid by the organisers.

What does it cost

The Australian visa application charge, any health examination or biometrics costs if they apply, and our service fee. We confirm the current figures upfront, before we start.

What happens if my application is refused

Home Affairs tells you in writing why the visa was refused and whether you have a right to review. In most cases the realistic remedy is a fresh application that addresses those reasons directly, and we can help you prepare it.
